Best Car Deals for June 2009

best-car-deals-may-2009Most car companies have detailed their June 2009 rebates and incentives now but keep in mind that these promotional deals can sometimes change as the month progresses. A good deal now might be a better deal later — or not.

Chrysler has some of the best incentives now that it is officially in a state of bankruptcy reorganization. It’s in the form of $1000 “owner loyalty cash” (for current owners/leasers of Chrysler products) and various cash-back rebates that depend on the model and style.  Rebates are especially good on the Chrysler 300C ($4000), Dodge Charger ($3000), Ram trucks ($4500), Jeep Grand Cherokee ($4000), and Jeep Commander ($3500).

Chrysler also provides cash to dealers ranging up to $2000. This is money that dealers can pass along to customers as price discounts. The company has very few low-interest loan deals, which is just as well since most customers are better to take discounts and cash rebates. See Chrysler Deals Only Get Better for more details.

The Ford company’s new June 2009 deals are very generous with healthy rebates and many low-APR loan deals. Many of the deals depend on the region of the country, but rebates as high as $1000-$3000 are now available for such models as the Ford Mustang, Flex, Edge, Ranger, F-250, Fusion, Taurus, Explorer, F-150, Taurus X, Focus as well as the Lincoln MKZ and MKX, Town Car, Navigator, and the Mercury Grand Marquis, Milan, Sable, and Mountaineer. Other rebate amounts are being offered on other Ford company models not listed here, especially on leftover 2008 models on which incredible high rebates are being offered — as high as $6000-$8000.

0% APR loans are also being offered on many Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln models such as the 2010 Ford Edge, 2010 Fusion, 2010 Lincoln MKZ,  and almost every 2009 model Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury.

General Motors rebates are not quite as exciting as Ford’s but are nevertheless worth your consideration. There are rebates on nearly every model of Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac, Hummer, and Saturn. Rebates are highest on trucks and Hummer brand vehicles — as high as $5000. More modest rebates are available on cars and SUVs — ranging from $500 to $1500. Reduced-interest loans are also available (4.9%-6.9%) on many models but, as we usually advise, it’s generally better to take the rebates in lieu of loan deals.

Honda continues to offer some great lease deals on selected models and styles. For example, $199 a month lease payment on the popular Honda Civic LX 4-door sedan. You must like the style, have a down payment, drive an average number of miles per year, and have good credit to get the deals. These are genuinely good deals if you are looking to lease a car (see LeaseGuide.com for leasing tips and advice).

Hyundai and Kia have large rebates (until June 30, 2009) on most of it’s models, except the popular new 2010 Kia Soul and the Hyundai Genesis, both of which get attractive 0% APR loan deals. Many other models also have 0% loans as well as either-or rebates. Some models also have $1000 factory-to-dealer rebates that dealers can pass along to customers for additional price discounts. All in all, this makes for some fine deals on Hyundai and Kia vehicles.

Nissan is offering some very hefty rebates and low-interest loans for June 2009. The rebates range from $1250/$1500 on the Nissan Altima and Maxima, to $5000/$5500 on the Nissan Titan and Armada ($4000 on 2010 Armada). The Pathfinder gets $2500 and the Quest gets $3000. These are rebates worth the attention of anyone looking at buying a new Nissan. Alternatively, there are some worthy low-interest loans on all models in the 0.9%-3.9% range. The Armada actually gets a 0% rate for 12-60 month loans, and 1.9% for 72 months, a good deal if you need a long loan.

Mazda’s rebate deals are excellent for June 2009. For example, there is a $2500 rebate on the Mazda RX-8 sports car and up to $2000 on the Mazda3.

Toyota’s new incentives vary widely, depending on the region of the country. There are factory-to-customer rebates (up to $3000), low-interest loans (including 0% APR), and some hefty factory-to-dealer rebates (up to $4000) that dealers can offer to customers. But, again, these are not all available everywhere. Toyota also offers an additional $1000 rebate to college graduates.

Volkswagen has announced 0% loans on most of its entire model line for shorter term loans, slightly higher rates for longer term loans.
